Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme

The Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP) is a two-year senior cycle option that enhances the traditional Leaving Certificate by adding a strong vocational and enterprise dimension. Students follow their regular Leaving Certificate subjects while also completing two additional Link Modules that develop practical skills for life beyond school.

Programme overview

LCVP provides students with a balanced blend of academic learning and hands-on preparation for future study or employment. Alongside their established Leaving Certificate subjects, students complete two Link Modules that focus on employability, enterprise and real-world career exploration.

LCVP was introduced at ETSS Wicklow in the 2025/26 academic year, reflecting the school’s commitment to meaningful, student-centred pathways that support progression, confidence and independence.

Link Modules

Two core modules

Students complete two Link Modules: Preparation for the World of Work and Enterprise Education. These modules complement Leaving Certificate subjects by connecting learning to real-life contexts and future pathways.

  • Job-seeking skills (CVs, applications, interview preparation)
  • Communication and teamwork in workplace contexts
  • Understanding enterprise, employment and workplace expectations

Enterprise Education

  • Innovation, creativity and initiative
  • Planning and organising enterprise activities
  • Working with others and evaluating outcomes
  • Community engagement and real-world enterprise learning

Learning beyond the classroom

LCVP supports learning through real-world experiences that connect classroom learning to future pathways. Students engage with enterprise and career-related opportunities that build confidence, independence and ambition.

Experiences such as educational trips and cultural visits provide valuable opportunities to develop teamwork, communication, organisation and reflection — key skills that support the Link Modules and future progression.
